The Bucket List So Far (December 2024 Update)

Back in July, I made a bucket list of things I want to do before I reach 55. Basically, a nine-year list of goals I want to accomplish or at least try just once. And now, as the year is winding down (it'll be 2025 in a couple of weeks), II felt it was time to revisit what I've actually done so far. I managed to cross off a few things off my list, but I know I have a long way to go.
  1. Find love again.
  2. Marry that love or at least try my damnedest to make her happy.
  3. Write a novel. I have one completely done, but I'm making it into a full series, all of which are in various points of creation. But at least one is completely done. Another slightly unrelated one is ALMOST done. I say "slightly unrelated" because when I first started it, it wasn't related to another story, but now, it's connected to two other stories, and one of them is an indirect prequel that fits in the timeline.
  4. Write at least two non-fiction history books. Editing one right now and writing another.
  5. Write a mystery novel series. Still working on that. See 3.
  6. Write a serialized dramatic story. Plotted out a few. Haven't fully committed to doing one yet.
  7. Create an animated series.
  8. Create a TV series.
  9. Write a story bible for a TV series. When I was working on my mystery series, I kind of started this one because I wanted to see how it would flow as a series, and I wrote out a full five-season series plot layout with character and world descriptions, including bios. I know they don't do those, but that looks like a story bible to me.
  10. Create comic books.
  11. Create web comics.
  12. Create a video series.
  13. Create a streaming/FAST channel.
  14. Learn 3D modeling.
  15. Learn 3D printing.
  16. Create and print an action figure from scratch.
  17. Create a Muppet-like puppet from scratch.
  18. Learn how to animate using Toon Boom and create a short.
  19. Learn cel-shading and comic-shading techniques on Krita
  20. Relaunch The X Bridge as something better than it was. I don't want to relaunch The X Bridge anymore. I feel I need to explain why, but this isn't the time for that. I promise I'll tell you why in full in time.
  21. Write a Superman project for DC.
  22. Write a Spider-Man project for Marvel.
  23. Bake French desserts from scratch at home.
  24. Paint large murals and large-scale paintings.
  25. Build a computer from scratch.
  26. Write a weekly column in a major print or web magazine.
  27. Sell a series idea to a major network or streamer.
  28. Write a screenplay.
  29. Write a stage play.
  30. Take better care of myself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Really learning how to do that. It's not easy. It really hasn't been easy after the election. That nearly broke me.
  31. Take more creative, personal, and professional risks.
  32. Try voice acting.
  33. Write an audio drama series.
  34. Make a four-course meal.
  35. Be more assertive and happier with life.
  36. Reach 50.
  37. Don't get discouraged about not completing everything on this list (but keep going). I'm not crossing this off.
I'm going to add more to the list in time when inspiration hits me or I accomplish more of these goals to make room for new ones, whichever comes first.

I know it's foolhardy to do something like this at my age, but I'm not getting any younger, and considering I've mostly taken care of others since I got out of college more than 20 years ago, I need to do things for myself just once in my life. I know I have a lot of limitations (lack of funds and the fact that I just can't go anywhere because of what I look like), but it is nice to be somewhat realistic and, yet, learn to dream bigger.

I may not be able to accomplish everything on this bucket list, and I know that's going to be okay. I'm glad I have some things checked off already so far.
